Sandra Nichols
Researcher
Following the completion of her Master of Environmental Planning degree in 1996, Sandra has worked in the areas of both environmental project management (for state and local government) and higher education, researching skills for environmental graduates. Recent research projects for ARIES and the Graduate School of the Environment at Macquarie University have focused on graduate capabilities in climate change adaptation in the built environment sector in particular, and in the environmental area more generally.
Sandra has also developed teaching and learning materials for academics in sustainability, climate change and energy efficiency, which drew on her more-than-twenty-years experience as a secondary social science teacher. She also designed a workshop for academics in whole-school sustainability for ARIES, based on the Australian Government’s Sustainable School Initiative.
Sandra’s commitment to sustainability as a way to build resilience in communities for the future has been demonstrated by her co-founding of Transition Epping in 2010.
